- Temple History Varijala Gopala Krishna Temple, located at Gopalayapalli, is revered by devotees as a sacred hill shrine, comparable in spiritual significance to Yadagiri Gutta. According to tradition, Lord Krishna, in His child form, once resided in a golden anthill atop the hill. A cow would visit the spot daily, continuously offering streams of milk to the divine presence. These miraculous events established the region as a revered Krishna kshetra. At the heart of the temple, Lord Varijala Venugopala Swamy, an enchanting form of Lord Krishna, blesses devotees along with Goddess Rukmini and Goddess Satyabhama. The processional deity is beautifully adorned with the sacred Tirunama. After daily pujas and aarti, priests bestow Satagopa blessings, along with teertham (holy water) and prasadam, filling devotees with spiritual fulfillment. The temple complex includes several important sub-shrines that enrich its Vaishnava heritage. A Garuda Alwar shrine stands prominently in front of the main sanctum. To the right of the sanctum sanctorum is the shrine of Andal Ammavaru, the only female among the twelve Alwars, while a separate shrine dedicated to the Alwars is located on the left.
