- Temple History The Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Temple in Chandragiri is a historical treasure dating back to the 10th century. Originally constructed by the Chola kings, it saw significant patronage and expansion during the 16th century under the Vijayanagara Emperor Sri Krishna Devaraya. Located near the foothills of the historic Chandragiri Fort, the temple is an architectural marvel of the Dravidian style, featuring rock walls adorned with "Raja Mudrikas" (royal seals) of the Vijayanagara dynasty. What makes this temple truly unique is its Eka Peetham (single pedestal). Unlike most temples where only Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana are present, the sanctum here houses the entire family—Lord Rama, Sita Devi, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna—all carved on a single pedestal, flanked by Hanuman and Garuda.
