- Temple History "Renuka Devi Temple at Mahur is one of the important Shakti worship centers in Maharashtra and is traditionally recognized as a Shakti Peetha. The temple is located on Mahurgad hill, overlooking the plains of the Godavari basin. According to Hindu tradition, Goddess Renuka was the wife of Sage Jamadagni and the mother of Lord Parashurama. The site has been mentioned in ancient religious texts and has remained a place of worship for centuries. The present temple structure was developed and expanded during medieval times under the patronage of regional rulers.
