- Temple History The Swarnagiri Temple, which translates to the "Golden Hill" Temple, is a modern architectural masterpiece. Unlike ancient heritage shrines, its construction began relatively recently in 2018 under the vision of the Manepally family (prominent jewelers in Telangana), who dedicated their family land to create a magnificent spiritual retreat. The temple was formally inaugurated and opened to the public in early 2024 under the management of the Srivari Seva Trust. Built strictly adhering to traditional Sri Pancharatra Agama and Tennacharya practices, the temple serves as a hub not just for devotion, but for social, educational, and humanitarian welfare initiatives. The entire temple complex is spread across a massive 22 acres atop the scenic Manepally Hills. Swarnagiri is heavily inspired by the world-famous Tirumala Tirupati Temple and boasts incredible structural marvels designed under the guidance of acclaimed sthapathis (architects): Inside the main sanctum (Garbhagriha) stands a breathtaking 12-foot-tall black granite idol of Lord Sri Venkateswara, which is officially the largest Tirupati Balaji idol in the state of Telangana. He is flanked by his consorts, Sridevi and Bhudevi. The temple design is an intricate fusion of four major South Indian historical dynasties: Pallava, Chola, Chalukya, and Vijayanagara styles. Visitors climb 108 steps to reach the main platform, passing four soaring Rajagopurams (gateways) and a 5-storied Vimana Gopuram. The temple features a massive bronze bell hanging within the complex that weighs approximately 1.5 tonnes, making it the second-largest bell in all of India. A spectacular, water-filled sub-sanctum where the deity resides amidst water. It is beautifully illuminated after sunset, creating a highly serene visual experience. A towering 120-foot mandapam houses a majestic 40-foot monolith statue of Lord Hanuman.
