- Temple History Sri Kanaka Durga Ammavari Temple, located near Ameerpet X Roads, is a powerful and well-known ancient Goddess temple with a history of over 40 years. The temple enjoys excellent connectivity, making it easily accessible for devotees from all parts of Hyderabad. The temple complex houses several important sub-shrines, including Sri Kanaka Durga Ammavari, Sri Seethala Mata (Pochamma) Devi, Sri Santoshi Mata, and Naga Devata temples. The Kanaka Durga Temple was constructed within the premises of the ancient Sri Pochamma Ammavari Temple at the request of local residents and with the support of prominent citizens of the area. Construction began in 1984, and the temple was formally consecrated on 31st March 1986 by Sri Sri Sri Vidyanrusimha Bharati, the Pontiff of Pushpagiri Peetham, through the efforts of the Kemshetty Rajeshwarappa family. Since then, the temple has flourished and stands today in grand spiritual splendor. In 1989, the ancient Sri Pochamma Ammavari Temple was reconstructed and continues to be worshipped with great devotion. Later, in 1990, the Sri Santoshi Mata Temple was established within the complex. The temple is known for its regular and special spiritual programs. On every Full Moon (Pournami) and Chaturdashi (14th lunar day), Chandi Homa and a Palanquin (Utsava) procession are conducted in the evening. During the annual Dasara festival, from Padyaami to Dashami, special rituals are performed daily according to Agamic traditions. These include morning Abhishekams and Alankarams, followed by Navavarana Sri Chakra Kumkumarchana and Chandi programs from 9:00 AM onwards. In addition, Chandi Homa is performed on every Pournami and Chaturdashi, Sri Santoshi Mata Udyapanas are conducted every Friday, and Kala Sarpa Dosha Nivaran (Rahu–Ketu) Puja and Homa are performed regularly. Special Abhishekams for Sri Pochamma Devi (Seethala Mata) are conducted every Sunday. Through these continuous spiritual activities, the temple has been progressing steadily and attracting devotees in large numbers.
