Temple History ఆధ్యాత్మిక నగరంగా విరాజిల్లుతోన్న విజయవాడలో చారిత్రాత్మ‌కం కలిగిన ఆలయాల్లో మొగల్రాజపురం ధనకొండ ఒక‌టి.. దుర్గాభవానీ ఆలయం... దుర్గమ్మ కొలువైన కొండ అని ఇప్పటికీ ఇక్క‌డి ప్రజలు నమ్ముతారు. పురాత‌న చ‌రిత్ర క‌ల్గిన ఈ ధ‌న‌కొండ విశిష్ట‌త‌పై ప్ర‌త్యేక క‌థ‌నం... ఇంద్రకీలాద్రిపై అమ్మ కొలువు తీరడానికి ముందు, ఇంకోచోట వెలిసిందని భక్తుల నమ్మకం. "దక్షిణాన కదిలిందిరా మా అమ్మ దుర్గా ఉత్తరానికొచ్చింది రా" అనే గీతం ప్రకారం కూడా దుర్గా అమ్మవారు దక్షిణాది నుంచి కదిలి ఉత్తర దిక్కుకు వచ్చి విజయవాడలోని మొగల్రాజపురం కొండపైన వెలిసింద‌ని భ‌క్తుల విశ్వాసం. ఈ విషయం ఇప్పటి తరంలో చాలా మందికి పెద్దగా తెలీదు. విజయవాడలో ఉన్న వెనకటి తరాల వారికి మాత్రం అసలు కనకదుర్గమ్మ ముందుగా మొగల్రాజపురం ధనకొండపై వెలసిందని నమ్ముతారు. ఇప్పటికీ అమ్మవారు పగలంతా ఇంద్రకీలాద్రి మీద ఉండి, రాత్రి ఒక చిన్న పాప రూపంలో ధనకొండకు వస్తుందంటున్నారు స్థానికులు. ఇంద్రకీలాద్రిపై వెలసిన కనకదుర్గమ్మ ఎంతటి మహిమాన్వితురాలో మొగల్రాజపురంలో ఈ కొండపై వెలిసిన దుర్గమ్మ కూడా అంతే మహిమగలదని భక్తుల విశ్వాసం. మొగల్రాజపురం కొండపై ఒక చిన్న గుహలో అమ్మవారు శ్రీకచ్రకపీఠంపై పాదముద్రలు, నేత్రంతో వెలసిందంటారు. ఇది నిజమేన‌ని అంటానికి సాక్ష్యంగా ఇప్పటికీ అంతరాలయంలో అమ్మ‌వారి పాద ముద్రలు, నేత్రంతో ఉన్న శ్రీచక్రపీఠం ఉంది. ఈ ఆలయంలో అమ్మవారి విగ్రహ రూపం కనపడదు.. అంటే గర్భాలయంలో ఎర్రటి జ్వాలలాగా ఒక రూపం కనిపిస్తుంది. ఈ రూపం కింద భాగంలో శ్రీచక్ర రూపం ఉంటుంది. స్థానికుల కధనం ప్రకారం దశాబ్దాల క్రితం చిట్టడివిగా ఉన్న ఈ ప్రాంతంలో ఒక గొల్లవానికి గుహలో అమ్మవారు దర్శనం ఇచ్చి, నీకేం కావాలో కోరుకోమనగా పేదరికంతో ఉన్న తనను ఆదుకోమని అభ్యర్థించాడట. అమ్మ కరుణించి కొంత ధనాన్నిని ఇచ్చి వెనక్కు తిరిగి చూడకుండా వెళ్లు... ఎటువంటి శబ్దం వచ్చినా చూడొద్దని.. చూస్తే శిలగా మారిపోతావని ఆదేశించింద‌ట. గుహ వద్ద నుంచి కిందకు బయల్దేరిన గొల్లవాడు కొంత దూరం వచ్చేసరికి వెనుక నుంచి శబ్దాలు, ఇతర చప్పుళ్లు వినబడటంతో వెనక్కి తిరిగాడట. వెంటనే అతను ఒక బండగా మారిపోయాడట. ఇప్పటికీ ఆ గుహకు దిగువుగా అక్కడ గొల్లబండ అని ఒకటి ఉంది. ప్రస్తుతానికి కొండ కింద నుండి పైకి వెళ్లడానికి చక్కటి మెట్లు ఆపై నుంచి గుడి వరకు సిమెంట్‌ రోడ్డు ఉంది. అమ్మ‌వారిని ద‌ర్శించుకోవ‌డానికి వ‌చ్చే భక్తులు పైన పొంగళ్లు చేసుకొవడానికి షెడ్డు, కాలి మార్గంలో నవదుర్గలు, క్షేత్రం ప్రధాన ద్వారం వద్ద వినాయక, సుబ్రహ్మణ్య స్వామి విగ్రహాలు ఉన్నాయి. అమ్మవారి గర్బగుడిపైన గోపురం ఉన్న ప్రాంతంలో కొండలో అంతార్భగంగా శివలింగాన్ని దర్శించుకోవచ్చు. ఈ క్షేత్రానికి వెళ్లాలంటే మొగల్రాజపురంలోని బోయపాటి మాధవరావు రోడ్డు నుంచి ఈ గుడికి వెళ్లవచ్చు. ప్ర‌తి ఏటా ఇక్క‌డ న‌వ‌రాత్రుల పాటు అమ్మ‌వారికి ఉత్స‌వాలు చేయ‌డం ఆన‌క దసరా పండగ రోజున మేళ‌తాళాలు, మంగ‌ళ‌వాయిద్యాల‌తో అమ్మ‌వారిని న‌గ‌ర పుర‌వీధుల్ల‌తో ఊరేగింపు జ‌ర‌ప‌డం ఆన‌వాయితీగా వ‌స్తుంది. అమ్మ‌వారి మ‌హ‌త్యం తెలిసిన భ‌క్తులు ఏటా దేశం న‌లుమూల‌ల నుంచి ద‌స‌రా ఉత్స‌వాల స‌మ‌యంలో ఇక్క‌డికి విచ్చేస్తూ ధ‌న‌కొండ‌పై వెల‌సిన క‌న‌క‌దుర్గ‌మ్మ‌ను ద‌ర్శించుకుని వెళుతుంటారు. ఈ కొండను దర్శించి అమ్మ కృపకటాక్షాలు పొందుతున్నారు.. Devotees believe that before reaching Indrakeeladri, Goddess Durga appeared somewhere else. According to the song "Dakshinana halukundira maa Amma Durga Uttarani kochindi ra", devotees also believe that Goddess Durga moved from the south and came to the north and appeared on the Mogalrajapuram hill in Vijayawada. Many people in the current generation do not know much about this matter. However, the previous generations in Vijayawada believe that the original Kanaka Durgamma first appeared on the Mogalrajapuram Dhanakonda. The locals still say that the goddess stays on Indrakiladri all day and comes to Dhanakonda at night in the form of a small child. Devotees believe that the goddess Durga who appeared on this hill in Mogalrajapuram is as glorious as the goddess Kanakadurgamma who appeared on Indrakiladri. It is said that the goddess appeared on the Srikachrakapitham in a small cave on the Mogalrajapuram hill with her footprints and eyes. As a proof of this, the Srichakrapeetham with the footprints and eyes of the goddess is still there in the inner temple. The idol of the goddess is not visible in this temple. That is, a form like a red flame is visible in the sanctum sanctorum. The form has the form of Srichakra at the bottom of this form. According to the local legend, decades ago, a shepherd appeared to a woman in a cave in this area, which was once a jungle, and asked her to help him, who was in poverty. The woman took pity on him and gave him some money and told him to go without looking back... and not to look at any sound... or he would turn into a rock if he looked. The shepherd, who had gone down from the cave, turned back after hearing sounds and other noises from behind. He was immediately turned into a rock. There is still a place called Gollabanda below the cave. Currently, there are good steps to go up from the bottom of the hill, and then there is a cement road to the temple. There are sheds and Navadurgas on the footpath for devotees to offer pongals, and idols of Vinayaka and Subrahmanya Swamy at the main entrance of the temple. In the area where the gopuram is located above the temple, one can see the Shivalinga in full glory on the hill. To reach this temple, one can go to this temple from Boyapati Madhavrao Road in Mogalrajapuram. Every year, festivals are held here for the goddess during Navarathri and on the day of Dussehra, it is a tradition to take the goddess through the streets of the city with melatalas and mangalavaidhyas. Devotees who know the importance of the Goddess come here every year from all over the country during the Dussehra celebrations to visit the Kanaka Durga idol on Dhanakonda. They visit this hill and receive the blessings of the Goddess.
