It is often referred to as the "Ayodhya of the South" due to its rare architectural and sculptural significance The Ayodhyanath Temple is renowned for its Eka Shila (Single Stone) idol, which is considered a sculptural marvel. While many temples have a single deity carved from one stone, this temple features a single massive rock upon which over 30 to 40 divine forms are intricately carved. This includes the entire Rama Parivaar (Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and Hanuman) alongside various incarnations and forms of Lord Vishnu, effectively depicting the entire "Vaikuntha" on a single stone. What makes this temple truly unique is its placement in a global context: it is said to be one of only four such temples in the world (representing the four cardinal directions), with this Shastripuram shrine serving as the representative for the South.
