- Temple History The historical Trikoteswara Temple was famous as early as 1172 AD, as is evident from the inscriptions made by the Chola king Kulottunga Chola Raju and the vassal Muranginaidu of Velanati. The zamindars of Narasaraopet, Chilakaluripet, Amaravati, Petlurivaripalem, as well as Sri Krishnadevaraya, donated lands to the Lord. The devotees Salankula and his three younger brothers became the Panchabrahma Sthan and the Lingaswaras of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara. The uniqueness of this place is that Anandavalli (Gollabhama) is the Shivaikya Sandhana. The place where Brahma was preached..: According to the legend, after the destruction of the Dakshayagna, Shiva appeared in Kotappakonda as a celibate, a childlike being, and in the form of Medha Dakshina Murthy. It is also known as the place where Brahma was preached to gods, sages and devotees. Kotappakonda is the place where Trikoteswara Swamy, who is represented as the trikutas of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara, is worshipped. The inscriptions on the south door of the sanctum sanctorum, written by Siddha Mallappa and Shambhumallamma, indicate the antiquity of the temple. In the 6th and 7th centuries AD, the Anandagotriks and Vishnukundins ruled this area and earned the title of Trikutadhipat. Dakshinamurthy is the form of Omkara, who embodies purity and tranquility. It is believed that with the grace of this Swamy, one gets all the knowledge. It is said that the name Dakshinamurthy is meaningful because the murthy is seated facing south. There is evidence that 200 years ago, Pinapadu Veleswara Ayya established Janakarshan, Mokkubadu, Ashtadigbandha Ganapati, and Santana Koteswara Yantras on Brahma Shikhara. The Sthal Purana says that Vishnu also received Brahma's advice from the Medhadakshina Murthy of Vishnu Shikhara. Due to this, Vishnu Shikhara is famous here. However, people in the Purvashram do not know about these. At two turns of the Ghat road, the idol of Brahma was installed, and at the same turn, the idols of Maha Vishnu, Lakshmi Devi, and Adisesha were installed. A huge idol of Vinayaka was also built on the hill. After the Brahma Shikhara Dakshayagna, the Sthal Purana says that Trikoteswara appeared as Dhyana Shankara and Dakshina Murthy in Kotappakonda. Brahma and Vishnu gave Brahma's advice to many gods here. That is why Brahma Shikhara was established here. The three peaks that appeared on the three hills: After the Dakshayagna, Lord Shiva performed penance on the Trikutadri (Kotappakonda) mountain for 12 years to find peace after the loss of Sati. Brahma, Vishnu, all the gods, and the sage Pungava performed penance there for the grace of the Lord, and being pleased, visited the Lord and received enlightenment. That is why this place is flourishing as a great pilgrimage site. Since it is the place of Daksha Murthy, the Brahma Chari, wedding ceremonies are held here. There is also no flag pole. Kotappakonda is visible as three peaks from any direction. That is why the Lord who appeared on the hill got the name Trikuteswara. These three peaks are called Brahma, Vishnu, and Rudra peaks. It is believed that Brahma lived on Brahma Peak. Since there was no Jyotirlinga in this area, Brahma did penance for God, then the Lord appeared and appeared as a Jyotirlinga to fulfill Brahma's desire. That Jyotirlinga is the Koteswara Linga that is worshipped by devotees. In the form of Jangam Devar.. The local legend says that when Gollabhama Anandavalli of Kondakavur near Kotappakonda worshipped Trikoteswara, God appeared in the form of Jangam Devar. Anandavalli went to the place of Papa Vinachana Doona and brought the water to Rudra Peak and performed abhishekadhi pujas to Jangamaya. Despite all the efforts made to test her, Anandavalli, who was a devotee of the pujas, came to her house, and Jangamaya set out after her to observe the fast there. When she was told not to look back under any circumstances, she turned back at Brahmashikhara, unable to bear the sounds of the deluge. Jangamayya turned into a rock there. The Koteswara Temple was built at that very place. Anandavalli Temple was built in the lower part of this temple, where Gollabhama turned into a rock. The local legend says that this temple was built by Salankayya. Swami performed penance on Rudrashikhara. The old Koteswara Swamy Temple is located here. Here, during the Arudrotsavam, the Karpura Jyoti Darshan is held. The Papa Vimochaneswara Swamy Temple is located in the sacred place where the gods and sages who participated in the Daksha Yajna got their sins forgiven on Vishnu Shikhara. Trikoteswara Swamy Temple is located at a height of six hundred feet. With the construction of the Ghat Road, the number of devotees visiting this place is increasing day by day. చారిత్రక త్రికోటేశ్వర ఆలయం క్రీస్తు శకం 1172 నాటికే ప్రసిద్ధి చెందినట్లు వెలనాటి చోళ రాజైన కుళొత్తుంగా చోళరాజు, సామంతుడు మురంగినాయుడు వేయించిన శాసనాల ద్వారా తెలుస్తోంది. నరసరావుపేట, చిలకలూరిపేట, అమరావతి, పెట్లూరివారిపాలెం జమిందార్లు అలాగే శ్రీకృష్ణదేవరాయలు స్వామివారికి భూములు సమర్పించారు. భక్తులైన సాలంకులు, అతని ముగ్గురు తమ్ముళ్లు పంచబ్రహ్మ స్థానంగా బ్రహ్మ, విష్ణు, మహేశ్వర లింగస్వరూపులు కావటం ఆనందవల్లి (గొల్లభామ) శివైక్య సంధానమవడం ఈ క్షేత్ర వైశిష్ట్యం. బ్రహ్మోపదేశం చేసిన క్షేత్రంగా..: దక్షయజ్ఞం విధ్వంసం తర్వాత శివుడు బ్రహ్మచారిగా చిరుప్రాయపు వటువుగా, మేధాదక్షిణామూర్తి రూపంలో కోటప్పకొండలో వెలిసినట్లు స్థల పురాణం. దేవతలకు, మహర్షులకు, భక్తులకు బ్రహ్మోపదేశం చేసిన క్షేత్రంగా కూడా గుర్తింపు ఉంది. బ్రహ్మ, విష్ణు, మహేశ్వరులు త్రికూటములుగా వెలసిన త్రికోటేశ్వర స్వామి సన్నిధానమే కోటప్పకొండ. గర్భాలయ దక్షిణద్వారమందు ఉన్న శాసనాల వల్ల సిద్ధమల్లప్ప, శంభుమల్లమ్మలు వేయించిన శాసనాలు ఆలయ ప్రాచీనతను తెలియజేస్తున్నాయి. క్రీస్తు శకం 6, 7శతాబ్దాల్లోనే ఈ ప్రాంతాన్ని ఆనందగోత్రికులు, విష్ణుకుండినులు పాలించి త్రికూటాధిపతులుగా బిరుదులు పొందారు. నిర్మలత్వం, ప్రశాంతత మూర్తీభవించిన ఓంకార స్వరూపుడు దక్షిణామూర్తి. ఈ స్వామి అనుగ్రహంతో సర్వవిద్యలు లభిస్తాయని ప్రతీతి. దక్షిణాభిముఖంగా ఆశీనుడైన మూర్తి కనుక దక్షిణామూర్తి పేరు సార్థకమైందని చెబుతారు. 200 ఏళ్లకు పూర్వం బ్రహ్మశిఖరంపై పినపాడు వేలేశ్వర అయ్యవారు జనాకర్షణ, మొక్కుబడులు, అష్టదిగ్బంధ గణపతి, సంతాన కోటేశ్వర యంత్రాలు స్థాపించినట్లు శాసన ఆధారాలు ఉన్నాయి. విష్ణు శిఖరం మేధాదక్షిణా మూర్తి వద్ద విష్ణువు కూడా బ్రహ్మోపదేశం పొందినట్లు స్థల పురాణం చెబుతోంది. దీంతో ఇక్కడ విష్ణు శిఖరం ప్రసిద్ధి చెందింది. అయితే పూర్వాశ్రమంలో ప్రజలకు ఇవి తెలియవు. ఘాట్‌ రోడ్డులోని రెండు మలుపుల్లో బ్రహ్మదేవుని విగ్రహాన్ని అదే మలుపులో మహావిష్ణువు, లక్ష్మీదేవి, ఆదిశేషుని విగ్రహాలను ఏర్పాటు చేయించారు. కొండపైన భారీ వినాయకుని విగ్రహాన్ని కూడా నిర్మించారు. బ్రహ్మ శిఖరం దక్షయజ్ఞం అనంతరం త్రికోటేశ్వరుడు కోటప్పకొండలో ధ్యానశంకరునిగా, దక్షిణామూర్తిగా వెలిశాడని స్థల పురాణం. ఆయన వద్ద బ్రహ్మ, విష్ణువులు అనేక మంది దేవతలకు ఇక్కడ బ్రహ్మోపదేశం చేశారు. అందువల్లే ఇక్కడ బ్రహ్మశిఖరం ఏర్పాటైంది. మూడు కొండలపై వెలసిన ముక్కంటి : దక్షయజ్ఞం అనంతరం ఈశ్వరుడు సతీ వియో గంతో ప్రశాంతత కోసం త్రికూటాద్రి (కోటప్పకొండ) పర్వతం పైన 12 ఏళ్లు వటుడిగా తపమాచరిస్తుం డగా, సదాశివుని అనుగ్రహం కోసం బ్రహ్మ, విష్ణు, సకల దేవతలు, రుషి పుంగవులు స్వామి కటాక్షం కోసం అక్కడ తపమాచరించి ప్రసన్నుడిగా స్వామిని దర్శించుకుని జ్ఞాన దీక్ష పొందారు. అందు వల్లే ఈ క్షేత్రం మహా పుణ్యక్షేత్రంగా విరాజిల్లుతోంది. బ్రహ్మ చారి అయిన దక్షణామూర్తి క్షేత్రం కావడంతో ఇక్కడ కళ్యాణోత్సవాలు నిర్వహించారు. ధ్వజ స్తంభం కూడా ఉండదు. ఎటువైపు చూసినా మూడు శిఖరాలుగా కోటప్పకొండ కన్పిస్తుంది. అందుకే కొండపై వెలసిన స్వామికి త్రికూటేశ్వరుడు అని పేరు వచ్చింది. ఈ మూడు శిఖరాలకు బ్రహ్మ, విష్ణు, రుద్ర శిఖరాలు అని పిలుస్తారు. బ్రహ్మ శిఖరంపై బ్రహ్మ నివసించాడని ప్రతీతి. జ్యోతిర్లింగం ఈ ప్రాంతంలో లేకపోవటంతో బ్రహ్మ ఈశ్వరుని గురించి తపస్సు చేయగా అప్పుడు స్వామి ప్రత్యక్షమై బ్రహ్మ కోరిక తీర్చుటకు జ్యోతిర్లింగంగా వెలిశాడు. ఆ జ్యోతిర్లింగమే భక్తుల పూజలందుకుంటున్న కోటేశ్వర లింగం. జంగం దేవర రూపంలో.. కోటప్పకొండ వద్ద ఉన్న కొండకావూరులోని గొల్లభామ ఆనందవల్లి త్రికోటేశ్వరునికి పూజలు చేయగా ఈశ్వరుడు జంగం దేవ రరూపంలో ప్రత్యక్షమైనట్టు స్థల పురాణం చెపుతోంది. ఆనందవల్లి పాప వినాచన దూన వద్దకు వెళ్లి తీర్ధం రుద్ర శిఖరానికి తెచ్చి జంగమయ్యకు అభిషేకాధిపూజలు చేసింది. ఆమెను పరీక్షించేం దుకు ఎన్ని విధాలా కష్ట పెడుతున్నప్పటికీ పూజలు మాననం దునే ఆనందవల్లి ఇంటికి వస్తాను, అక్కడే వ్రతం ఆచరించమని జంగమయ్య ఆమె వెనుకనే బయలుదేరాడు. ఎలాంటి పరిస్థితు ల్లోను వెను దిరిగి చూడవద్దని చెప్పగా ప్రళయ ధ్వనులకు తాళలేక బ్రహ్మశిఖరం వద్ద వెను దిరిగి చూసింది. జంగమయ్య అక్కడే శిలగా మారాడు. ఆ చోటనే కోటేశ్వరాలయం నిర్మించ బడింది. ఈ ఆలయానికి దిగువ భాగాన గొల్లభామ శిలగా మారిన ప్రాంతంలో ఆనందవల్లి గుడి నిర్మించారు. ఈ గుడిని సాలంకయ్య నిర్మించినట్టు స్థల పురాణం చెపుతుంది. రుద్రశిఖరంపై స్వామి వారు తపమాచరించారు. ఇక్కడే పాత కోటేశ్వర స్వామి ఆలయం ఉంది. ఇక్కడ ఆరుద్రోత్సవం సందర్భంగా కర్పూర జ్యోతి దర్శనం జరుగుతుంది. విష్ణుశిఖరంలో దక్ష యజ్ఞంలో పాల్గొన్న దేవతలు, రుషులు పాప విమోచనం పొందిన పవిత్ర స్థలంలో పాప విమోచనేశ్వర స్వామి ఆలయం ఉంది. ఆరు వందల అడుగుల ఎత్తులో త్రికోటేశ్వర స్వామి దేవాల యం ఉంది. ఘాట్‌ రోడ్డు నిర్మాణంతో ఈ క్షేత్రానికి వచ్చే భక్తుల సంఖ్య నానాటికి పెరుగు తోంది.
