- Temple History Eklingji Temple is an important Shiva temple located in the village of Kailashpuri near Udaipur in Rajasthan. The temple complex is closely associated with the rulers of the Mewar kingdom. Historical traditions state that the original temple was established by Bappa Rawal, a prominent ruler of the Mewar dynasty, during the 8th century. Over time the temple underwent several renovations carried out by later rulers of Mewar. The present structure reflects traditional Rajasthani temple architecture and includes multiple shrines built around the main sanctum. The temple has long been considered the spiritual center of the Mewar region. Eklingji Temple holds great importance for the Mewar royal family and devotees of Lord Shiva. Historically the rulers of Mewar considered Lord Eklingji as the true ruler of their kingdom and regarded themselves as representatives serving the deity.
