Bhukailash Dwadasha Devasthanam, also known as the Water Theme Temple, is a renowned Shaivite pilgrimage center located at Antharam Thanda near Tandur in Vikarabad district of Telangana. - Temple History The Bhukailash Dwadasha Devasthanam, popularly known as the Water Theme Temple, Bhukailash Temple , Tandur Bhukailash Temple is a unique and modern Shaivite spiritual landmark located at Antharam Thanda, about 5 km from Tandur in Vikarabad district, Telangana. This remarkable temple is the lifelong vision of Pawar Vasu Naik, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva and a resident of Antharam Thanda. In 2001, Pawar Vasu Naik undertook a pilgrimage to the Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal, where he stayed for nearly four years, actively participating in temple service and spiritual activities. During this period, he conceived the idea of building a temple in his native village that would reflect the spiritual essence of Pashupatinath and allow devotees to experience the sacred presence of the twelve Jyotirlingas in one place. After returning home, he shared this vision with his family, and with the support of his younger brother Shankar Pawar Naik, construction of the temple began. The brothers dedicated 50 percent of the income from their real estate business toward the project and supplemented it with donations from devotees and well-wishers. Built on more than five acres of land, the construction took nearly nine years, and the temple was formally opened to devotees in 2010. The temple’s most striking feature is its water-integrated architectural design, which gives devotees a rare and immersive spiritual experience. At the heart of the complex stands a magnificent 65-foot-tall statue of Lord Shiva, now a prominent landmark in the region. Beneath this statue lies a large water channel where replicas of the twelve Jyotirlingas, originally located across different parts of India, have been consecrated. Devotees walk through ankle-deep water to have darshan of all twelve Jyotirlingas before reaching the sanctum, symbolizing a sacred journey through holy rivers toward the divine. Beyond the main Shiva shrine, the Bhukailash temple complex functions as a comprehensive spiritual center. It houses shrines and idols of Kalabhairava, Veerabhadra, Lord Ganesha, Hanuman, Panchamukhi Hanuman, Navagrahas, Ayyappa Swamy, Sai Baba, Dattatreya Swamy, Raghavendra Swamy, Sita Rama, and Kalika Devi, along with a sacred pond and other facilities that enhance the pilgrim experience. Daily pujas, abhishekams, and Rudrabhishekam are performed with devotion. The temple comes alive during Maha Shivaratri, when week-long Brahmotsavams are celebrated with great grandeur. Special rituals such as Shiva–Parvati Kalyanam, homas, and elaborate abhishekams are conducted. A unique highlight of these celebrations is the traditional Lambadi (Banjara) folk dances performed by women from the local Thandas in colorful traditional attire, drawing thousands of devotees from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. True to its spiritual mission, the Bhukailash temple is also deeply involved in service activities. The temple management conducts daily annadanam (free food distribution) for devotees. It supports free marriages for poor couples who register with the temple committee and provides financial assistance to underprivileged students, making the temple not only a place of worship but also a center of social service.
