- Temple History The Arts College, part of Osmania University in Hyderabad, is situated amidst lush green trees and a serene environment. A little further from this historical building lies the Saraswati Temple. Students believe that visiting the goddess of learning, who is depicted with a veena in her hand and a gentle smile, and studying in this peaceful precinct for a while, helps them concentrate and achieve success in their exams. Therefore, those preparing for government jobs and competitive exams worship the goddess with devotion. In March and April, local school students visit the temple to seek the goddess's blessings before their exams. Although it is called a Saraswati Devi temple, the administrators say it was actually built for Lord Hanuman. Legend: Once upon a time, about fifty years ago, construction work was underway on the university campus. During the excavations, laborers unearthed a slab bearing the image of Lord Hanuman. The laborers left the slab there and worshipped it in their own way. Yathirajulu, a professor at the university at the time, learned about this slab while walking with his friends. He then spoke to his colleagues, collected some money from each of them, and built a small temple, installing an idol of Hanuman. A few days after this incident, the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham pontiff, Chandrashekharendra Saraswati, reportedly appeared to him in a dream and instructed him that an idol of Goddess Saraswati was with an elderly Brahmin in Tamil Nadu, and that he should bring it, consecrate it, and build a temple for it. At the same time, the pontiff also appeared in a dream to the elderly Brahmin, informing him of the details of those who would come for the idol. Following this, Yatiraju and his friends went to Tamil Nadu and brought back the idol of the Goddess. Furthermore, it is said that Chandrashekharendra Saraswati himself laid the foundation stone for the temple, and later, under the guidance of Jayendra Saraswati and Vijayendra Saraswati, the temple construction and the consecration of the idols took place. The temple is currently under the control of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, according to the organizers. Special Pujas: Devotees visiting the temple can see the idols of Goddess Saraswati, along with those of Ganesha and Hanuman. It is believed that while the Goddess bestows knowledge, Ganesha grants success and intelligence, and Hanuman, known as Prasanna Veeranjaneya, bestows strength and ensures victory. In this temple, where special pujas are performed during festivals and auspicious days, it is customary to perform abhishekams (ritual bathing) for the Goddess on the Moola Nakshatra day of every month. Similarly, devotees come from far and wide to perform Aksharabhyasam (initiation into learning) on the Moola Nakshatra day during the Devi Sharannavaratri festival, as well as on Vasant Panchami.చుట్టూ పచ్చని చెట్లతో, ప్రశాంతమైన వాతావరణంలో ఉంటుంది హైదరాబాద్లోని ఉస్మానియా విశ్వవిద్యాలయంలో భాగమైన ఆర్ట్స్ కాలేజీ. ఆ చారిత్రక భవనాన్ని దాటి కాస్త ముందుకు వెళ్తే కనిపిస్తుంది సరస్వతీ దేవాలయం. చేతిలో వీణతో చిరుమందహాసంతో కటాక్షి చదువుల తల్లిని దర్శించుకుని ఈ ప్రాంగణంలో కాసేపైనా కూర్చుని చదువుకుంటే... ఏకాగ్రత కుదిరి ఉత్తీర్ణత సాధిస్తామని విద్యార్దుల నమ్మకం. అందుకే ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగాలకు ప్రయత్నించేవారూ, పోటీపరీక్షఱలకు వెళ్లేవారు అమ్మవారిని ఆర్తితో పూజిస్తారు. ఇక, మార్చి, ఏప్రిల్ నెలల్లో అయితే స్థానిక స్కూళ్ల విద్యార్థులు చదువుల తల్లిన. దర్శించుకున్నాకే పరీక్షకు వెళ్తార. పేరుకు సరస్వతీదేవి ఆలయమైనా దీనిని హనుమంతుడి కోసమే నిర్మించారని చెబుతారు నిర్వాహకులు. స్థలపురాణం :ఒకప్పుడు- అంటే సుమారు యాభై సంవత్సరాల క్రితం యూనివర్సిటీ ప్రాంగణంలో నిర్మాణ పనులు జరుగుతుండేవట. ఆ పనుల్లో భాగంగా కూలీలు తవ్వకాలు జరిపినప్పుడు హనుమంతుడి రూపం ఉన్న పలక బయటపడిందట. కూలీలు ఆ పలకను అక్కడే ఉంచి తోచినట్లుగా పూజించేవారట. అప్పట్లో యూనివర్సిటీలో ప్రొఫెసర్గా పనిచేస్తున్న యతిరాజులు- స్నేహితులతో కలిసి వాకింగ్ చేస్తున్నప్పుడు, ఈ పలక గురించి తెలిసిందట. దాంతో తోటివారితో మాట్లాడి, తలాకొంచెం డబ్బు సేకరించి చిన్నగా ఆలయాన్ని నిర్మించి... హనుమంతుడి విగ్రహాన్ని ఏర్పాటుచేశారట. ఇది జరిగిన కొన్ని రోజులకు - కంచికామకోటి పీఠాధిపతి చంద్రశేఖరేంద్ర సరస్వతి ఆయనకు కలలో కనిపించి తమిళనాడులోని ఓ వృద్ధ బ్రాహ్మణుడి దగ్గర సరస్వతీదేవి విగ్రహం ఉందనీ... దాన్ని తెచ్చి ప్రతిష్ఠించమనీ, ఓ ఆలయాన్ని కూడా నిర్మించమనీ ఆదేశించారట. అదే సమయంలో ఆ వృద్ధుడికీ కలలో కనిపించి, విగ్రహం కోసం వచ్చేవారి వివరాలనూ తెలియజేశారట. దీంతో యతిరాజులూ, ఆయన స్నేహితులూ తమిళనాడుకు వెళ్లి అమ్మవారి విగ్రహాన్ని తీసుకొచ్చారట. అంతేకాదు... స్వయంగా చంద్రశేఖరేంద్ర సరస్వతి వచ్చి ఆలయానికి పునాది వేశారనీ.. ఆ తరువాత జయేంద్ర విజయేంద్ర సరస్వతుల ఆధ్వర్యంలో అమ్మవారి ఆలయ నిర్మాణం- విగ్రహాల ప్రతిష్ఠాపన జరిగిందనీ... ప్రస్తుతం కంచికామకోటి పీఠం ఆధీనంలోనే ఈ ఆలయం ఉందనీ వివరిస్తారు నిర్వాహకులు. విశేషమైన పూజలు : ఆలయానికి వచ్చే భక్తులకు అమ్మవారితోపాటు వినాయకుడు, హనుమంతుడి విగ్రహాలూ కనిపిస్తాయి. అమ్మవారు జ్ఞానప్రదాయిని అయితే వినాయకుడు సిద్ధినీబుద్ధినీ కలిగిస్తాడనీ, ప్రసన్నవీరాంజనేయుడిగా పిలిచే హనుమంతుడు శక్తిని ప్రసాదించి విజయాలను చేకూరుస్తాడనీ చెబుతారు. పండుగలూ, ప్రత్యేక పర్వదినాల్లో విశేషమైన పూజలు జరిగే ఈ ఆలయంలో ప్రతినెలా వచ్చే మూలానక్షత్రం నాడు అమ్మవారికి అభిషేకాలు చేయడం ఆనవాయితీ. అదేవిధంగా దేవీశరన్నవరాత్రుల్లో వచ్చే మూలా నక్షత్రం రోజుతోపాటు, వసంతపంచమినాడు అక్షరాభ్యాసాలు చేయించేందుకు ఎక్కడెక్కడినుంచో వస్తారు భక్తులు.
